Better late than forever!

Say hello to my 8th Coffee Drinker drawing. There's only going to be 10, so this series is coming to a close!
I'm brainstorming other ideas for possible future series, 10 drawings each. It'll be like an adventure but way less exciting! (Or maybe way MORE exciting? Only time will tell.)
It was announced today that Allister is getting back together for a new album this year! Woo! One of my favorite pop punk bands for sure. It's great that all these bands are getting it back together for new recordings, shows, tours, etc. (Namely Something Corporate and Rufio!)
You know who needs to get back together next? Hot Rod Circuit. And then Northstar. And then Name Taken!!!!!!!! I'm getting carried away. I just can't believe I missed out on seeing all these bands live. ):
Sweet potatoes are yum.

Hearts that hanker for mistake

New drawing!
I was playing hooky from this blog for a couple days there, ha.
I'm seeing Rx Bandits this friday at this adorable little venue called The Mod Club in Toronto. Stoked. Rx Bandits = awesome, in case you didn't know. Such talented people. (:
By the way, "God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater" is awesome so far, and I'm only on chapter 6.
Not stoked about school tomorrow, to be honest.
it's okay though, because this week is going to be super short.
Field trip to the art gallery on Wednesday, and it's Easter weekend starting Friday!
Also, I'm going to Washington DC on Saturday. I've never been. I will be armed with analog cameras!

I am so high I can feel you in my bones.

So I got this book from the library today that I've been trying to track down for a while, called "God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater". It's by a lovely author by the name of Kurt Vonnegut.
I would not hesitate to call this man my favorite author of all time.
I highly recommend any of his novels or short stories. All hilarious.
Anyway, I've been drawing like a madwoman lately, and I'm excited about each and every new drawing I start.
I'm in a really great place in my mind right now.
I want a Canon 7d.
That is all.

23 March 2010

Double double.

I took my Holga camera to Copeland's final Toronto show.
I developed the roll yesterday and had my first darkroom session today. I skipped lunch.
I decided to combine some architectural photographs I had taken previously with my concert shots.
I think this one came out quite successful.
I'll jump back into the darkroom and make some more, tomorrow. (:
Stay classy, everyone. New coffee drawing tomorrow, hopefully.

The coffee zombies

Finalized the sketch and inked this at school today.
It's weird that I'm drawing more now that all my portfolio interviews are over and done with.
And these drawings are much better than anything I made for my portfolio.
I guess there really is a big difference between creating art to show technical ability and creating art just for myself.
The results from my interview with the Ontario College of Art and Design will be in on April 9th at the latest.
I will be shaking in my boots until then. OCAD is my ticket out of this goddamned place.

Stripey

3 cups in the morning sounds about right.
I keep drinking coffee in my "dead zone" (5:30pm-7pm). For whatever reason, when I drink coffee any time in between, I'm up for the entire night.
School starts back up tomorrow, but I've devised a way to bring my giant-ass sketchbook to school and back.
If I can't get into the darkroom tomorrow, I will be sad.

It's 4:07 AM.

It's a little bit hilarious how the very reason I am up right now is because I consumed way too much espresso tonight.
Yes, that is a quick half-assed rendition of a great Streetlight Manifesto shirt.
The hands gave me a lot of grief.
I'm tired.

Prepare to be digitally manipulated

It's a masquerade, baby!
This is an illustration I did today, a quick little colored sketch, for a poster I'm designing for an event my school is putting on called "Arts Night".
The theme is Venetian masquerade.
So what if my proportions are off? Reference photos are for babies!
This was done 100% on Photoshop using my beloved Wacom Intuos4 Tablet. I highly recommend it!

An Introduction.

Let me introduce myself.

I'm a seventeen year old girl with dreams of becoming this bigshot illustrator/designer/photographer in the music industry. Sure, that's not the biggest or craziest aspiration in the whole entire world, but that's all I need. There's no sense in shooting for something higher than what I ultimately want. Next year I'm going to go to art school. After that, I'm going to move out of this god forsaken suburb and into a big city. This will serve as my online art journal where I will be posting images that inspire me, musings, sketches, paintings, drawings, photographs, everything. I promise I won't be this long-winded next time.

Why are the zombies pissed, you ask? Because Latterman said they were. End of story.
