All I want is a soldier hand in hand with you...

What up?

Just decided to quickly post a drawing that I just finished. Critique tomorrow, yikes!

This is an ink wash on a ripped up christmas songbook hahahah. These are my two guitars, Boris and Sandra, and my uke, Jackson! 8D

LATER GATOR.

20 September 2010

I told you I didn't want my picture taken, but you snapped it anyway...

Hello internet!

This is my nearly-finished assignment for my drawing class. It's white ink on black card stock. I was going for a negative-image-meets-photocollage sort of thing. If anything, I think it has a bitchin' sense of movement. The quality of the actual drawing is pretty "meh", though. I'm not gonna kid myself hahaha.

I'm totally ready for another week of school. Bring it. Live models in drawing class tomorrow! Exciting! I've never really drawn live models before. I wonder if they will be clothed... haha.

Alright, later y'all!

What if we were created to gaze at the stars??

My new favorite song is "The Stars" by Jukebox the Ghost. Infectious piano pop at its finest. I am so smitten by this band. (:

Ummm... I just finished this drawing/painting for one of my classes. It's just a weekly exercise, so it's nothing major that I spent a huge amount of time on, but I still like it!

 So...yeah! That's that!

Progress

So I finished another of my characters last night, and I cut both out this morning. I'm currently debating whether the cardboard is even necessary. We'll see.

I guess the cardboard thing just depends on what I plan on doing with all these components when they're all done. HMM.

09 September 2010

So I'm working on this mural...

I've recently stumbled upon a large quantity of flat cardboard, so I wanted to do something with it. What I decided upon was a cardboard cut-out installation for my wall of various characters. I'm gonna be drawing them in ink onto medium weight paper, placing it on top of a cardboard sheet, and cutting out each figure. Did you follow that? I guess it doesn't really matter, I'll show you what I mean when I get there. For now I've drawn the first little dude, which you can see below:

Oh, and this week was my first week at art school! It was very exciting. I like my profs very much. The vibe is very energetic and inspiring, I think. It's gonna be quite a bit of work, though. I hope I'm ready for it, haha.

Chocolate soy milk is absolutely delicious.

Alright, this is where I leave you guys. I hope you're enjoying life, whatever you happen to be doing at the moment. (:

Don't you forget the things you're leaving.

So, my friends and I had our final get-together with the entire gang last night, before we all start moving away to our various universities over the weekend. I wasn't even the least bit sad until people started leaving this morning. I'm going to miss those motherfuckers like no tomorrow. I haven't felt aching in my chest so bad in a long long time. But anyways, that's that. I'm home now, and one of my best friends from Florida landed in Toronto late last night (she's attending the University of Toronto this year! Woo!)  So I can't be completely sad today.

Also, I finished this drawing a couple days ago for a guy named Gary whom I met over at absolutepunk.net. It's a new/better version of an old drawing I did, based on the song "All The Pretty Girls" by a band named Fun. And it was, well, really fun to draw. haha. I'm mailing it later today. I adore it (:

School starts on Tuesday, and I am more than terrified.
My Photoshop CS4 is acting up like crazy so I've abandoned the project 365 out of sheer frustration with the faulty software. Rawr. I'll be getting CS5 soon enough, I'm sure.

That's all. I promise I'll be updating more now that school is starting up soon.

19 June 2010

I heard what was a song inside the earth.

So I drew this Dangerous Summer-inspired piece for my pal Nick that I met on absolutepunk.net a few months ago. It's ink on a relatively lightweight watercolor paper.

Today was my very last day of highschool, so as a small grad present, I drew coffee zombified versions of a handful of my friends. They're each 8"x10" and were extremely fun to draw 8D

Glee is a terrible show.

But it does serve as great background noise when you're spending hours and hours drawing something. I really like how it turned out, and I love the new brand of pens that I bought (Pigma Microns, made by a company called Sakura. Check it out.) New pen obsession means new drawings. (:

I realized that I didn't have the link to my flickr account on the sidebar (to your right). Woops. It's www.flickr.com/heartisonthefloor (savesthedayruleswhat?) I'll be posting a weekly update of photos on this blog anyway so I guess it doesn't matter too much.

Take care of yourselves.

25 May 2010

What? Everyone's doing it.

Starting a Project 360 starting today. Basically, I'll be posting one photograph each day labeled "X/365" to my flickr account. I'll be posting weekly updates on this blog of all seven images every Tuesday, starting next week.

This is 1/365. (click for bigger picture)
Sleeper (1/365)
my sister modeled. (:

Also, I just finished up this drawing...

Yep. There's another almost-complete drawing that I will probably post sometime this week.

I just finished reading Batman: Hush and it was really good. I didn't know a lot of the characters, but I still enjoyed it thoroughly. I also read the original 18 issues of Runaways and it's really super cute. I'd recommend that series to everybody. I've read way too many comics in the past 48 hours.

That's all.
Take care of yourselves. (:

So please don't go away!!

Argh, I haven't been updating here as much as I would like to.
Actually, I haven't been drawing or painting as much as I would like to either.
I went to the art store and splurged on a whole bunch of new technical pens, so now I'm ready to go.
Ink drawings, commence!
I've been preoccupied lately with photographing the school play and whatnot, but starting Friday, it's back to the ol' sketchbook, I promise.

17 April 2010

What a mess you made.

I hate being sick! Ew! My face is a never-ending snot faucet. ):
I did jeopardize my health by going out at 7:30AM for Record Store Day, though. Totally worth it.
I scored one of those new Hold Steady albums that were limited to 600 worldwide that are going for a million dollars each on ebay already.
It's a great album, by the way. You're all in for a treat, whenever you get around to picking this up (:
Anyway, I drew this ink/paint thing as a result of my current obsession with Steel Train (I also picked up their 7" single today! It's very pretty!)
This is based off of a song called "Kill Monsters in the Rain", my favorite song (besides Dakota!) off of their album entitled "Trampoline". I'm about 3 years late in discovering it, but shit happens, yeah?
Now back to the sketchbook for me! (:

30 March 2010

Better late than forever!

Say hello to my 8th Coffee Drinker drawing. There's only going to be 10, so this series is coming to a close!
I'm brainstorming other ideas for possible future series, 10 drawings each. It'll be like an adventure but way less exciting! (Or maybe way MORE exciting? Only time will tell.)
It was announced today that Allister is getting back together for a new album this year! Woo! One of my favorite pop punk bands for sure. It's great that all these bands are getting it back together for new recordings, shows, tours, etc. (Namely Something Corporate and Rufio!)
You know who needs to get back together next? Hot Rod Circuit. And then Northstar. And then Name Taken!!!!!!!! I'm getting carried away. I just can't believe I missed out on seeing all these bands live. ):
Sweet potatoes are yum.

Hearts that hanker for mistake

New drawing!
I was playing hooky from this blog for a couple days there, ha.
I'm seeing Rx Bandits this friday at this adorable little venue called The Mod Club in Toronto. Stoked. Rx Bandits = awesome, in case you didn't know. Such talented people. (:
By the way, "God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater" is awesome so far, and I'm only on chapter 6.
Not stoked about school tomorrow, to be honest.
it's okay though, because this week is going to be super short.
Field trip to the art gallery on Wednesday, and it's Easter weekend starting Friday!
Also, I'm going to Washington DC on Saturday. I've never been. I will be armed with analog cameras!

24 March 2010

I am so high I can feel you in my bones.

So I got this book from the library today that I've been trying to track down for a while, called "God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater". It's by a lovely author by the name of Kurt Vonnegut.
I would not hesitate to call this man my favorite author of all time.
I highly recommend any of his novels or short stories. All hilarious.
Anyway, I've been drawing like a madwoman lately, and I'm excited about each and every new drawing I start.
I'm in a really great place in my mind right now.
I want a Canon 7d.
That is all.

22 March 2010

The coffee zombies

Finalized the sketch and inked this at school today.
It's weird that I'm drawing more now that all my portfolio interviews are over and done with.
And these drawings are much better than anything I made for my portfolio.
I guess there really is a big difference between creating art to show technical ability and creating art just for myself.
The results from my interview with the Ontario College of Art and Design will be in on April 9th at the latest.
I will be shaking in my boots until then. OCAD is my ticket out of this goddamned place.

Stripey

3 cups in the morning sounds about right.
I keep drinking coffee in my "dead zone" (5:30pm-7pm). For whatever reason, when I drink coffee any time in between, I'm up for the entire night.
School starts back up tomorrow, but I've devised a way to bring my giant-ass sketchbook to school and back.
If I can't get into the darkroom tomorrow, I will be sad.

21 March 2010

It's 4:07 AM.

It's a little bit hilarious how the very reason I am up right now is because I consumed way too much espresso tonight.
Yes, that is a quick half-assed rendition of a great Streetlight Manifesto shirt.
The hands gave me a lot of grief.
I'm tired.

An Introduction.

Let me introduce myself.

I'm a seventeen year old girl with dreams of becoming this bigshot illustrator/designer/photographer in the music industry. Sure, that's not the biggest or craziest aspiration in the whole entire world, but that's all I need. There's no sense in shooting for something higher than what I ultimately want. Next year I'm going to go to art school. After that, I'm going to move out of this god forsaken suburb and into a big city. This will serve as my online art journal where I will be posting images that inspire me, musings, sketches, paintings, drawings, photographs, everything. I promise I won't be this long-winded next time.

Why are the zombies pissed, you ask? Because Latterman said they were. End of story.
